Biography

Bernd Baumgart was a member of the East German gold medal winning coxed eights at the 1976 Montréal Summer Games. Together with Roland Kostulski, also a member of the 1976 eights, he won his only East German national title in 1974, the coxless pairs. Due to ill-health, Baumgart retired in 1979, and became a sports teacher.
