Rower Achim Krause-Wichmann participated in the coxless four with Werner Biel, his brother Hans, and Hanns Peters at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952, the highlight of his career. The boat won its heat in 6:40.8 minutes ahead of the favored Norway and Italy boats. They lost their semi-final and also closely lost the repêchage semi-final and missed the final. Achim came third at the 1954 German Championships in the coxless pairs with non-Olympian Werner Häring, and in 1955 Achim and his brother Hans finished second in the coxed pairs.
