Biography

An Eagle Scout as a youth, Pat Hayes rowed at U Cal Berkeley, graduating in 1974 with a degree in civil engineering, and a minor in economics. He also represented the Long Beach Rowing Association and Vesper Boat Club. Hayes won a gold medal in coxless fours at the 1975 Pan American Games. He also competed in that boat at the 1973 European Championships. Hayes later had over 30 years in business with experience in asset management, construction, engineering, water and business management. Hayes continued to be involved in rowing, competing in masters events for over 15 years, and was President of the San Diego Rowing Club from 2001-06, and from 1977-79, was President of Lake Merritt Rowing Club.
