Biography

Scott Steketee was a star athlete at Maumee Valley High School in Toledo, Ohio, winning multiple awards in baseball, football, and basketball. He took up rowing at Harvard, and in 1967, sitting in the 5th seat, helped the Harvard eight win gold at the Pan American Games and win the Eastern Sprints, take silver at the European Championships and National Association of Amateur Oarsmen (NAAO) Championship, and place fourth at the North American regatta. Steketee later became a computer science teacher in Philadelphia, where he helped organize the teachers’ union.
