Biography

Wolfram, Sr. was the father of Wolfram Waibel, Jr.. Wolfram Sr. participated in a total of five Olympic Games between 1968-92 (missing 1984 and 1988). Unlike his son, he was unable to win any medals with a 13th place in 1972 as his best Olympic result. Both father and son were small-bore rifles specialists.

Wolfram, Sr., was more successful at World Championships, winning a silver medal in 50 metres small-bore rifle kneeling, in 1970, and three bronze medals in 1974, 1978, and 1982. Wolfram also won two silvers and two bronzes at the European Championships. Nationally, he won 75 titles before later turning to coaching.
