Biography

Gustav Richard Nyman competed in the free rifle shooting at the 1908 and 1912 Olympic Games. His greatest achievement was the bronze medal at the 1914 World Championships in the standing position with the free rifle, the only medal won by a marksman from the Grand Duchy of Finland, according to national championships podium places that have only been recorded since 1907.

Nyman received his journeyman’s certificate of competence as a tinsmith in 1894 for manufacturing a children’s bathtub from tin.
