Biography

Päivi Meriluoto-Aaltonen is the most successful Finnish female archer although she has never won a major international title. Meriluoto-Aaltonen won the bronze medal at the 1980 Olympics, but never medaled at the World Championships. At the European Championships, Meriluoto-Aaltonen won individual silver in 1982, team silvers in 1980 and 1982 and team bronze in 1978. At the European Indoor Championships, she won the team silver in 1983 and team bronze in 1985. She also won the Nordic Championships in 1978, 1984 and 1986 and was an eight-time Finnish champion in 1977-82 and 1987-88.
