Vic Auer’s specialty was the English match – the smallbore rifle, prone competition. The UCLA grad won his Olympic medal in this event, added three gold medals (two individual) at the 1971 and 1975 Pan-American Games in the English match, and won two national titles at this event. Auer made his living as a scriptwriter for television.
