Biography

Sumner Benedict was the son of George A. and Elma Beardsley Benedict. He served in the military as a captain with the 7th Ohio Infantry, but Benedict later became a physician. At the 1908 Olympics, his medal, and Charles Winders’ medal, were stolen from their London hotel room but the London Organizing Committee struck new medals for the two American shooters.
