Michael Theimer

Michael Theimer was in the US Army in 1976, serving as a 1st Lieutenant at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served in the Army in the Marksmanship Unit from 1972-76, leaving as a Captain. He was transferred to the US Army Reserve International Shooting Team from 1976 – 1980.

He won his first international gold medal in 1973 at the First Championships of the Americas 1973. Awarded the United States Distinguished International Shooter badge #166. Won nine US National Championship Titles in Running Target 1974-1980. Theimer graduated from Midwestern State University (Texas) in 1972, and later obtained an MBA from there in 1980.

Theimer then began his corporate professional life, starting as an employment manager with United Technologies / Mostek from 1980-85. He was then a management development specialist with Gulf States Utilities from 1985-87. Theimer was a staffing consultant at Digital Equipment from 1987-90 and a college relations manager for Texas Instruments from 1990-95. He worked as a human resources consultant for various global consulting firms from 1995-2005, before forming L. M. Theimer & Associates, a human resources consulting firm.

Theimer was an adjunct professor at Colorado Technical University from 2010-12. Was the Youth Programs/Coach Academy Director for USA Shooting 2012 - 2018. In 2023 he started up the first ever Merit Academy shooting sports club in Woodland Park, Colorado. In 2024 he started up and coached the first ever Merit Academy varsity Rifle Team. Mike is currently retired in Woodland Park, Colorado.
