Biography

Kevin Hallett was a breaststroke swimmer who made the 1948 Australian Olympic team in somewhat of an upset. At the Australian Championships that year he placed second in the 220 yard breaststroke and third in the 330 yard individual medley, was surprised when notified he had been selected for the Olympic team, and had to get support from people in his town to pay for his trip to London. At London he finished the 200 breaststroke heat but tendinitis in his shoulders made it difficult for him. He later swam at the 1950 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, but was disqualified for an illegal kick in the 200 breast. However, he played on the Australian water polo team that won the exhibition event there.
