The 1976 Summer Olympics were the first major international competition of Robin Corsiglia’s short career for the Canadian national team. There she helped Debbie Clarke, Wendy Cook-Hogg, Anne Jardin, and Susan Sloan capture bronze in the 4x100 metre medley relay and was eliminated in the semifinals of the 100 metre breaststroke. She had a large amount of success on the national scene, setting numerous Canadian and Commonwealth records, but her only other major international tournament was the 1978 Commonwealth Games. She made the most of it, however, winning gold in the 100 m breaststroke. With her goal of competing at the 1980 Summer Olympics disrupted by Canada’s boycott of those Games, she entered the University of Southern California on an athletic scholarship and spent her college career swimming for the school. Retiring from active competition following her 1983 graduation, she experimented in several fields before entering the California School of Professional Psychology. She earned a Ph.D. in mental health and, as of 2013, works as a sports psychologist at USC.
