Biography

Mandi Haswell was a Welsh platform and springboard diving champion before making her GB international début against Finland at Crystal Palace as a 15-year-old in 1965. That year, Haswell finished third in the national championships and competed in the European Diving Cup at Salzburg, Austria, finishing fifth behind Russia´s Nataliya Kuznetsova.

Haswell represented Wales at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games at Kingston, Jamaica. She finished seventh in the platform event and just missed out on a medal in fourth pace in the springboard. Haswell went on to become a double British champion, winning the national platform title in both 1967 and 1968. She went to the Mexico Olympics and qualified for the platform final but finished 12th and last.
