Biography
East German swimmer Brigitte Mertz attended the 1972 München Olympics in West Germany. She was eliminated in the heats of the 200 m butterfly. Mertz qualified for the games with her only podium at East German nationals, a bronze medal over 200 m butterfly in 1972.
