Biography

Swimmer Marion Platten competed at the 1976 Montréal Summer Olympics in the 200 metres freestyle, and both relays. She was eliminated in the 200 heats and with the 4x100 medley relay, the West German team was disqualified due to a false turn. With the 4x100 freestyle relay she finished eighth and last in the final. The following year she won her only West German national title in the 200 metres freestyle. By profession, Platten became a physiotherapist with her own practice. She was also interested in photography, calligraphy and ink painting.
