Biography

Hans Freese won the European 4x200m freestyle relay title with the German team in 1938. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, he was eliminated in the semi-final in both the 400m and 1,500m freestyle. In 1936 he was the German 400m freestyle champion. In 1941 Freese was seriously wounded near Leningrad during World War II and died the same year in a hospital in Bremen as a result of his injuries.
