Biography

German swimmer Hermann Heibel did not manage to make the final in the 100m freestyle at the 1936 Berlin Olympic. With the 4x200m relay team he was fifth. In 1937, he was German national champion with the Bremer Schwimmverein relay and in 1938 the relay swam a world record. In 1941 he was seriously wounded at the Eastern Front during World War II, and died in a military hospital at Valovo in Russia.
