Biography

Freestyler Werner Krammel competed in the 200 and 400 metres at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, failing to reach the finals in both events. The same year he won the West German national title in the 1,500 metres and came in second at 400 metres. In 1972 he earned his second national title, taking the 400 metres. He trained for the 1972 Olympics but failed to qualify due to illness.

Krammel trained as an architect, but earned a swimming coach certificate after his active career ended and became president of Erster Münchner Schwimmclub from 1994-2006. He then founded the Kutscherhof Kunst Kultur Krammel in Ledenitzen in Austria.
