Biography

German swimmer Otto Przywara was German 1,500m freestyle champion in 1935 and qualified for the 1936 Berlin Olympics when he reached the semi-finals in both the 400m and 1,500m freestyle events, but failed to qualify for the finals. As his surname sounded too “Polish” he took the German name Kutz during World War II. After the war he became one the most successful swimming coaches in the former GDR.
