Biography

Marco Dell’Uomo was an Italian freestyle swimmer. He came to international attention in 1982 when he qualified for the World Championships. At the 1983 Mediterranean Games he won two medals, with gold in the 4x200 free relay, and a silver in the 400 freestyle. In the spring of 1984 Dell’Uomo became the first Italian to go below 3:50 in the 400 freestyle in short-course. He competed at the 1984 Olympics, making the finals of both the 200 and 400 freestyles, joining Novella Calligaris as the first Italians to make two swimming finals at the same Olympics.
