Biography

Brynhild Berge won 10 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze national medals in swimming in the period 1916-28, and set national records in 50 m and 100 m freestyles in 1926 with 39.4 and 1:31.2, which were not bettered until 1930. She received the King’s Cup in 1923 and 1926 for her swimming performances in the national championships. In diving, she was national champion in 1920, 1926, and 1927.

After finishing her active career, in 1928 Berge married a man from Bodø, moved to his hometown and gave birth to a son. She died in 1975, aged 74.
