In the 1950s Swedish swimmer Margareta Westeson represented SK Poseidon in Lund, where she specialised in the backstroke. From 1953 to 1955 Westeson was the national champion in both the 100 and 200 metres backstroke, in addition to winning a further title in the 200 metres in 1956. In 1952, when she was 16-years-old, she competed in the 100 metres event at the Helsinki Olympics, placing 16th overall. Two years later she was selected to swim in the 100 metres backstroke at the European Aquatics Championships in Torino but did not start in her heat.
After her retirement Westeson worked as a licensed physiotherapist and married a dentist. Their daughter Elisabeth won bronze in the 100 metres butterfly at the 1982 European junior championships.
