Fredrik Löwenadler, the son of a merchant, was just 16-years-of-age when he competed in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm. In the 200 metres breaststroke, he placed third in his heat and did not advance to the semi-final. His grandfather Lars Johan Fredrik Löwenadler (1854-1915), a matchstick manufacturer and chamberlain, lived in London and generously supported the Swedish team at the 1908 Olympics in London. He was a co-opted member of the organizing committee for the Olympic Games in Stockholm and a member of Viktor Gustaf Balck’s circle.
