Biography

Kay Knapp swam in the 1956 Olympics while a student in high school in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She swam for the Terrapin Swim Club in Bethesda in 1956, but in 1954 was on the Walter Reed Swim Club that won AAU titles in the 400 freestyle relay both indoors and outdoors. She was sixth at the 1956 Olympic Trials both in the 100 free and the 100 fly, which qualified her for the 4x100 relay team, in which she swam in the heats in Melbourne.
