Biography

Monika Beu was on the East German volleyball team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics that won the fifth-place match against Brazil 3-1. She also won the European Championships in 1983 and 1987 and was silver medallist in 1985. In 1986, Beu participated in the World Championships.

In total, Beu won 244 international caps with East Germany. She played for Berliner TSC, and SC Dynamo Berlin. She was East German Champion from 1985-88, and East German Cup winner 1985-87. In 1984 and 1985 she won the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Beu later worked with Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund DOSB (NOC of Germany) and was project manager and CEO of “Integrative Meeting Rostock” offering sport and leisure programmes for young children, teenagers, and adults, with and without disabilities.
