Biography

Azerbaijani volleyball player Vera Lantratova competed for the Soviet Union during her career. At the USSR Championship Lantratova won silver in 1967 and bronze in 1966 and 1970. Her first major success on the international stage came at the 1967 European Volleyball Championships when the Soviet team won the tournament. The following year she part of the team that won the gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Lantratova also won gold at the World Volleyball Championships in 1970 when they were held in Bulgaria.

After her playing career Lantratova graduated from the Azerbaijan Technical University in 1971. She then worked in a high school in Bakı before becoming a physical education teacher at a school in Leningrad.
