Biography

Francesco Attolico was goalkeeper for the Italian water polo team in more than 400 matches. He was the hero of the final against Spain at the 1992 Olympics, making 10 saves in the 9-8 extra time victory. Italy completed the triple crown by winning the world title in 1994, having won the European Championship in 1993 (repeating in 1995). Nationally, he won three Italian titles, two with Pescara (1997 and 1998) and one with Posillipo (2001). He quit in 2001, and became assistant-manager and goalkeeper coach for the Italian national team.
