Biography

Brunello Spinelli was an Italian water polo goalkeeper who won an Olympic title in Roma 1960. He often played behind the impressive Dante Rossi, but he played as first choice in the matches against the United Arab Republic and Japan.

Spinelli kept goal for Rari Nantes Florentia Firenze, G.S. Fiamme Oro, and Lerici. He was also part of the national team at the 1962 Leipzig European Championships, where the Italian team finished eighth, and he added a silver medal behind Yugoslavia at the 1959 Mediterranean Games. He received in 2015 the Collare d’Oro for Sporting Merit from the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
