Biography

Ibrahim Hassanien Shams had the following podium finishes at major championships: 3rd in the 1936 Olympics Featherweight class (300.0 kg); 1st in the 1948 Olympics Lightweight class (360.0 kg); 1st in the 1949 World Championships Lightweight class (352.5 kg); 1st in the 1951 World Championships Lightweight class (342.5 kg). He set six lightweight world records from 1936-39 – one in the snatch and five in the clean & jerk. He was the 1936 Egyptian featherweight champion.
