Little is known of the freestyle wrestling career of Wood Green’s Eddie Bowey. A member of the Great Britain squad at the 1948 Olympics, which proved medal-less for British wrestlers, Bowey was eliminated in his middleweight contest by Turkey’s Adil Candemir. Bowey finished fourth in the 1950 Empire Games middleweight event, and a few months later was again selected to represent England in the international against Denmark.
