Biography

Born and raised in Camberwell, London, the son of a butcher, Henry Foskett was a member of the Olympic Amateur Wrestling Club in Walworth when he was one of 10 members to participate in the 1908 Olympic Games in London. Competing in the light-heavyweight class of the Greco-Roman event, and heavyweight class of the freestyle event, his best result came in the latter, losing in the quarter-final to eventual gold medallist Con O’Kelly, Sr. after receiving a bye in the first round. In the former event, he lost his only matchup to Marcel Dubois of Belgium. Foskett was a gas stove fitter for all of his working life, and was married with two sons.
