Biography

East German freestyle welterweight wrestler Martin Heinze from Halle an der Saale participated in three consecutive Olympic Games, in 1960 and 1964 on the mixed German team, and in 1968 for East Germany. In all three competitions he was eliminated early. He claimed seven East German national titles and eight more podium places between 1957 and 1969. At the European Championships he finished fifth both in 1967 and 1968.
