Tibor Czinkán started playing basketball for MTE in 1947. He soon moved to Bp. Vörös Meteor, from where he transferred to Bp. Honvéd in the fall of 1950. Between 1952 and 1967 Czinkán won the championship with his team 15 times and the Hungarian Cup five times.

Between 1951 and 1959 Czinkán was selected for the national team 85 times. He participated in five European Championships, of which the second place in Moskva in 1953 and the gold medal in Budapest in 1955 were the most outstanding results. Czinkán was already 29-years-old when he decided to become a doctor. He prepared carefully and, after a nine-year hiatus, sat down to study his textbooks again. In 1964 he graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at University of Budapest, then took the obstetrics and gynaecology exam. After completing his career he worked as a gynaecologist at the János Hospital.
