Biography

Greco Roman wrestler Erich Schmidt took part in the lightweight division at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, and was eliminated in the third round. In 1953 he was the German welterweight champion and that same year he finished 10th in the World Championships. He retired in 1968 at the age of 43.
