Biography

Sven Olsson moved to Karlskrona in 1904. Later he went to Stockholm, where he started wrestling in 1910 for Djurgårdens IF. He quickly became a strong and agile wrestler and was also secretary of the club’s wrestling section. At the 1912 Olympics, he competed in the middleweight A class but was eliminated in round 2. In 1913, he had his only podium at Swedish Championships placing third in the middleweight.

In 1920, he participated in his second Olympics in Antwerpen, now representing the Stockholm fire department’s club, Brandkårens IK. Therefore, he was nicknamed “Brand-Olle”. After an easy win in round 1, he was defeated by the American Frank Maichle and eliminated.
