Biography

Karel Engel competed at the 1972 München Olympics in freestyle heavyweight. Engel also wrestled at the 1970 and 1972 European Championships, finishing sixth and fifth, respectively. He was a seven-time Czechoslovakian Champion.

Engel was prominent in the Czech Olympians Club, assisting Dana Zátopková in her later years. He later became a stuntman in movies and appeared in 100s of films. Shortly before his death he published a book of his memoirs in sports and film.
