Biography

Barry Davis wrestled at the University of Iowa where he was a three-time NCAA champion, and the winningest wrestler in Iowa history. He finished his career with a record of 162-9-0, the third highest number of college victories at the time. In addition to his 1984 Olympic silver medal, Davis won a bronze medal at the 1986 World Championships and a silver medal in 1987. He also won a gold medal at the 1983 Pan American Games.

Davis was a grad assistant at Iowa from 1986-87 and an assistant coach in 1988-92. In 1994 he was named head coach at the University of Wisconsin and has served in that position for over 20 years. Davis was inducted into the National Iowa Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998 and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2007.
