Henrik Tallberg

During the 1960s sailor Henrik Tallberg and his brother Peter competed in the Star class for Finland. The Tallberg brothers won in the event at the Swedish Championships in 1962, to eventually earn themselves a place on the Olympic team. At the 1964 Tokyo Games they started strongly, finishing in the top four in the first five races, before finishing eighth in the sixth race. Despite then placing first in the seventh and final race, they just missed out on a medal, finishing fourth overall.

Henrik and Peter won another title at the Swedish Championships in 1965, with the pair returning to the Olympics three years later in Mexico City. After placing in the top-ten in each of the first three races, they then had a disastrous fourth race, finishing 19th out of the 20 teams. The brothers never recovered, eventually finishing 11th overall after the seventh race.

Henrik came from a family of sailors, with another brother, Johan, competing in the Soling class at the 1972 München Olympics. His grandfather Bertil and granduncle Gunnar won bronze in the 8 metres, open at the 1912 Stockholm Games. His uncle Mathias competed at the 1980 Moskva Games, as did his cousin Georg, with him winning bronze in the 470 class.
