Biography

Denis Tipping was an Australian track and field athlete who specialised as a sprinter. In 1960 Tipping became the national champion in both the 100 and 220 yards, earning himself a place on the Olympic team. At the Roma Games he ran in the 100 and 200 metres but did not advance from the heats in either race. Two years later he competed at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth where he finished fifth in the 4 × 110 yards relay with Gary Holdsworth, Bob Lay, and Michael Cleary, and reached the quarter-finals of the 220 yards.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.4 (1960); 200 – 21.2y (1959).
