Biography

Primarily a long jumper, Jackie Edwards competed in that event at five consecutive Olympic Games, from 1992-2008, making the final in 2000 when she finished sixth. She attended college in the USA at Stanford University and won the 1992 NCAA title in the long jump both indoors and outdoors, also finishing second in the triple jump in 1992 at both editions. She competed at seven World Championships, with a best finish of eighth in 2005, and at four World Indoor Championships, finishing 10th in 1997. Edwards was the Bahamian national record hold in both the long jump and triple jump. She later founded Tootsies, which manufactures maternity compression socks.

Personal Best: LJ – 6.80 (1996).
