Biography

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, sprinter Marvin Nash moved to Canada in his teens and represented the country at international track and field events. In September 1975 Nash won silver at the Summer Universiade in Roma in the 4 × 100 metres relay with Al Dukowski, Bryan Saunders, and Robert Martin. The following month Nash won bronze in the same event at the Pan American Games, this time with Hugh Fraser replacing Saunders in the Canadian quartet.

Nash ran in the 100 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, reaching the semi-finals of the 100 metres and finishing in eighth place in the relay. This time the Canadian quartet was comprised of Nash, Dukowski, Fraser, and Hugh Spooner. After the Olympics Nash ran in the same two races at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Alberta, Canada, reaching the final in the relay. At the 1979 Pan American Games in Puerto Rico he was again part of the Canadian team that competed in the final of the relay.

In the early 1990s Nash was sent to prison in East Toronto for selling crack cocaine to an undercover police officer.

Personal Best: 100 – 10.1 (1974).
