Biography

Peter Ogilvie represented Canada in the 200m at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games and achieved success in the 4x100m relay, winning silver at the 1991 Pan American Games and gold at the 1994 Francophone Games. He competed in the World Junior Championships, Pan American Junior Championships, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships, and for many years held the Canadian junior record for the 200m.

After retiring, Ogilvie became a key figure in Canadian sport development. He served as executive director of Athletics Alberta for over a decade, bringing major track and field events to Edmonton, such as the 2015 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships and the 2016 Olympic Track and Field Trials. He founded the TrackTown Classic, part of Canada’s National Track and Field Tour, giving athletes the opportunity to compete on home soil.

Ogilvie’s contributions extended beyond athletics, as he later served as the executive director of Tennis Alberta.
