Biography

El-Sayed Mubarak found success as a basketball player with Zamalek during the early 1970s and was selected to represent Egypt at the 1972 Munich Olympics. There, the nation lost every game in the tournament and placed last. Mubarak had much more success as a coach and administrator, having notable stints with the Al-Masry Club of Port Said and the Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria. For the latter, he was the technical director during many of the team’s victories in the Egyptian Super League during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Outside of sport, he was a financial and administrative manager at a construction company.
