Biography

Rico Pontvianne was a Mexican basketball star who competed at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics. Pontvianne won a silver medal at the 1967 Pan American Games. He also competed at the World Championships in 1963, 1967, and 1974.

Pontvianne later became a coach, leading Correcaminos Tampico to the Professional Basketball Conference title in 1994, 1997, and 1999-2000. He also served as sports director in both Tampico and Madero, and coached at the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas.
