Biography

With the East German team Peter Haase reached the final of the 4×100 relay together with Heinz Erbstößer, Hartmut Schelter and Harald Eggers at the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games, setting two European records in the heats (38.93) and the semifinal (38.72), but they lost that mark to France in the final. The relay also placed fifth at the 1969 European Championships, where Haase placed seventh in the 100 meter final.

In 1972 Haase retired due to a back injury. He later became Head of Sport and CEO at the Landessportbund Brandenburg. In the former GDR he was employed by the Nationale Volksarmee (National People’s Army).

Personal Best: 100 – 10.2 (1969).
