Biography

Race walker Siegfried Lefanczik was disqualified in the 20 km at the 1960 Roma Olympic Games only 3 km from the finish line. He also finished seventh two years earlier at the 1958 European Championships. Domestically Lefanczik claimed his only East German title in 1955 in the 10 km track walk. He was educated as a carpenter, but later worked as a photographer for the local press in Genthin.

Personal Best: 20kmW – 1-31:10 (1960).
