Biography

Joachim Singer, a 400 hurdler, was eliminated in the first round at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He also competed at the 1962 Europeans and placed third at the 1967 European Cup. He won the East German Championships in the 200 hurdles in 1962 and 1964, and over the 400 hurdles in 1962-64 and 1966. Singer was the first East German 400 hurdler to better 51 and 50 seconds. He was trained as a construction worker.
