Biography

Gaye Porteous first made headlines as a nine year old when she became the first girl to play Little League baseball in the state of Alberta. It was however at the sport of hockey that she played for Canada. She played firstly for the Calgary Hockey Club and then the University of Calgary Dinos before becoming a regular member of the national side. Porteous was chosen for the 1992 Olympic Games but, although she played in warm-up games, she was fated to remain on the bench for the entire tournament.
