Biography

At the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games 400 runner Edgar Itt won a bronze medal with the 4x400 relay. Itt also placed eighth in the 400 hurdles final at Seoul. He frequently participated in other international competitions such as World Championships (1987), World Cups (1989), European Championships (1986, 1990 and 1994), and European Cups (1987, 1989 and 1994). With the relay he earned two silver medals at the 1986 and the 1990 Europeans. Domestically he was German Champion in 1994 in the 400 hurdles.

Itt studied business economics and later owned his own agency for personal fitness, training and consultancy, also acting as a motivational speaker and inspirational coach. In 1988 he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf by the German government. In 2012 Itt was hired as a motivational coach for the German Track and Field team at the London Olympic Games. Of mixed ancestry, Itt never knew his African father. Itt married singer and actor Ariane Roth, daughter of singer and actor Ron Williams.
