Biography

Hermann Köhler, a 400 metre , came in fourth with the 4x400 relay at the 1972 München Olympics. At the European Championships he finished sixth in the 400 m in 1971 and won a gold medal with the relay, adding a silver medal three years later. His 4x400 relay team won the 1973 European Cup, after placing fourth in 1970. In the European Indoors Köhler collected another two gold and silver medals. Domestically he was West German Champion in the 400 in 1971, indoors in 1974 and with the relay indoors in 1971, 1973 and 1974. In 1972 he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf. Köhler became a businessman in a beverage distribution company started by his parents.
